introduction to silk screen printing - course
friday 18th & 25th august 2017
nucleus creative riverside hub, chatham
total course price £85 (includes lunch and refreshments)
A two-part course introducing you to the art of silk screen printing (total 10 hours instruction). You will learn different printing techniques to produce one-off and repeat prints and take those skills away with you to carry on printing at home.
Friday 18th August 10:00am - 3:30pm
Week 1 - You will begin the morning session leaning about the basic principles of screen printing by experimenting with paper cut stencils which produce bold and effective prints. Then in the afternoon you will move onto setting up a screen using a blocking fluid that produces a more detailed print that can be reproduced a number of times.
Friday 25th August 10:00am - 3:30pm
Week 2 - Using one or both of the techniques that you have learnt in the first session you will create a final piece. The design, process and item that you are printing onto will be discussed with the tutor in advance of this session.
Suitable for beginners or as a refresher course.
Materials, equipment and a light lunch are supplied. You will have 1m of fabric plus a canvas tote bag to print onto but students will need to supply the final item to print onto which will be discussed with each individual in advance of the final session.
