Using the museum's beautiful collection of fabrics, carvings and paintings as inspiration, this three-part screen printing course will introduce you to different techniques to produce unique prints.
Week 1 - Learn the basic principles of screen printing in this session by experimenting with paper cut stencils which produce bold and effective prints. You will produce a number of different stencils in this session.
Week 2 - Building on your basic knowledge of screen printing from week 1, in this session you will move onto setting up a screen using a blocking fluid that produces a more detailed print that can reproduce a number of times. You will produce one screen in this session and use it to make multiple prints.
Week 3 - Using one or both of the techniques that you have learnt in the first 2 sessions you will create a final piece on an item that you will need to supply. The design, process and item that you are printing onto will be discussed with the tutor in advance of this session.
Suitable for beginners or as a refresher course.
Materials and equipment are supplied but students will need to supply the final item to print onto which will be discussed with each individual in advance of the final session.
