It’s Fri-yay! Grab a hot drink and maybe a cheeky slice of cake, put your favourite playlist on and join other print fans as we start the weekend together.

This month we're learning Batik.

If, like me, against your better judgement you keep buying cheap candles and always have loads of wax after the wick has long burnt down, but don't like to throw it away because "it might come in handy one day", then today is THAT day!

WHAT IS BATIK?

Batik is technically a dyeing process, not a printmaking process, but I'm going with it because it works on a resist technique similar to screen printing (that's my excuse, anyway). It's easier to demonstrate than explain so click here to see a tutorial I did for the Royal Voluntary Service last month.

YOU WILL NEED:

Lightweight natural fabric

Candle wax

Tea light warmer or wax burner

If using a tea light warmer then you’ll also need a heatproof container to keep the wax warm.

Old paintbrush (medium / fine)

Fabric paint

Paint brush (large)

Iron

Scrap paper

If you prefer your workshops a bit later in the day then it's also available in the evening. Click here to find out more.

Your Zoom invite will be attached to your confirmation email so please keep it safe! If you can't make it then please do let me know so that I can offer your place to someone else.

If you have paid for your ticket then please note that tickets are non-refundable. Please let me know if you can't make it and I will try my best to transfer your booking to another workshop.

The workshop is delivered over Zoom. Please make sure that you have Zoom downloaded on your laptop / PC / tablet / phone prior to booking. There won't be a recording for this class - it's just for fun!
