Exploring pattern - a linocut workshop

Step back over 100 years to an event the papers anticipated as being “the most picturesque wedding of 1913” and be inspired by Vita Sackville-West's wedding exhibition at Knole for this linocut workshop.

About the Event

Join this linocut workshop led by Rachel Moore, a professional Kent-based artist and printmaker.

This linocut workshop will be led by Rachel Moore, a professional Kent-based artist and printmaker. The morning will begin with an introduction to the linocut process and learning methods for creating repeat patterns. After a self-guided visit to Knole's showrooms and Vita installation for ideas and inspiration, Rachel will guide you through basic design principles and help you turn your sketches into a final composition. You'll learn transfer techniques, understand image reversal, get hands-on carving your tile, and conclude by inking and hand-printing your repeat pattern sample.

All materials and printing equipment are provided. The easy-carve postcard-sized linocut tiles (approximately 15cm x 10cm) make this workshop ideal for beginners or those seeking a refresher. Once cleaned and dried, your linocut tile can be taken home and used to print again and again.

Drinks and biscuits will be provided, however, please bring a packed lunch or plan to purchase something from Brewhouse Café.

Please note:
