Step away from the everyday and take time to connect with the season. Explore creative carving, and experience printing with a 19th-century press at this winter themed linocut workshop.
Your day begins in the Hayloft, where your tutor, Rachel, will introduce you to the linocut process. This is followed by a self-guided tour around Knole’s showrooms and grounds, gathering ideas and motifs to use as the basis for your prints.
Back in the Hayloft, Rachel will guide you through basic design principles helping you turn your sketches and photos into a final composition. Whether you create your own design or opt for one of our pre-made templates, you’ll learn transfer techniques, master image reversal and get hands-on carving your tile using specialist tools.
After lunch, it’s time to print and see your art come…
