Matisse’s lesser known chine collé* prints are effortlessly fluid and we’ll be using them as a inspiration for our mono prints in this online workshop. 

We'll start by setting up our paper - cutting, tearing, sticking - then work though some warm-up exercises, carrying on to our final pieces. 

YOU WILL NEED:

10 A4/A5 sheets of cartridge paper or card

A variety of plain, patterned and coloured papers including coloured tissue paper

PVA glue

Leaves and other objects to make texture (optional)

Pencil

Tracing paper

Block printing ink in your choice of colours – I recommend having at least two colours with you.

An A4 size piece of acrylic plastic, Perspex, acetate or similar

Rubber roller (brayer) for printmaking

The workshop is delivered over Zoom and will be recorded. Please be aware that your image and name will form part of the recording and by booking onto the workshop you agree to this. Please make sure that you have Zoom downloaded on your laptop / PC / tablet / phone prior to booking. The recording will be sent to you within 24 hours of the workshop ending and will be available to view for 7 days.

*Chine collé is a printmaking technique where an image is transferred onto thin coloured paper that's been bonded to a heavier backing paper.
