About the Event
A one-day workshop, held in the lovingly restored Conservancy Board Building (AKA Café Nucleus) on Rochester High Street. You'll learn the principles of linocut printing and experiment with shape, texture and colour.
The morning session begins with sketching peonies from still life and working them into a design, ready to transfer to your linocut tile. (Ready-made designs will also be available for reference) After a light lunch it's time to get to grips with an original 19th century press print and use a technique called chin collé to add colour to your print.
All materials, printing equipment, refreshments and light lunch are supplied. Suitable for beginners or as a refresher course.
The workshop is held at Studio 7, The Conservancy Board Building on Rochester High Street. Home to Nucleus Arts and Café Nucleus, it's a beautiful, early 20th Century building with lots of original features.
The studio itself has been lovingly restored and you'll notice that it has an informal feel - there's a comfy Ercol chair, mohair cushions and rugs with some vintage touches and modern twists thrown in. This sets the scene perfectly for the workshop; the aim is for you to feel relaxed and enjoy playing with print and experimenting with colour.
Unfortunately there is no disabled access. Studio 7 is located on the first floor of the Halpern Conservancy Board Building (Cafe Nucleus) and is accessed via 25 steps.
