I’ve had so many people ask me about running a printmaking course recently - it turns out that workshops simply aren't enough for you - so, I’ve come up with a six-week course where each technique compliments the next. Rather than being stand alone sessions we’ll be combining techniques and developing our prints to create some gorgeous effects.
Some of the techniques you'll get to do are mono screen printing, cyanotypes onto paper and fabric (weather dependent), Gelli prints including stencils, transfer, and imprint methods, linocut and monotypes.
The final week will be a celebration of what you’ve learnt by turning your favourite prints into a concertina artist book.
Suitable for beginners who want to try something new, artists to develop their techniques or for those who just want to revitalise their creativity.
All materials, equipment, refreshments and cake provided.
Some nice things that workshop attendees have said:
"Great fun and learnt a lot in a short space of time. Rachel is a great teacher and was very patient with all my questions!"
Chris
"A great way to switch off from a busy week. Thank you for sharing your expertise Rachel"
Gemma
"A really good introduction to printmaking, I loved to the whole process. Rachel is an excellent tutor. Thanks for a great day"
Karen

About the venue: The course takes place at Studio 7 in The Halpern Conservancy Board Building, on Rochester High Street. This beautiful early 20th century building was purchased by Nucleus Arts in 2019 and lovingly restored to become the home of Café Nucleus, the Halpern POP Gallery and artists’ studios.
Once a dark dreary room, Studio 7 has been completely opened up and boasts huge leaded windows, an original fireplace and beautiful honey-coloured parquet flooring. It’s not your typical art studio, you’ll notice that it has an informal feel - there's a comfy Ercol chair, mohair cushions and rugs with some vintage touches and modern twists thrown in. This sets the scene perfectly for the workshop; I want you to feel relaxed and enjoy experimenting with different forms of print.
